Third Birthday party, Shellebration or Three Under the Sea theme
1st Birthday Shellabration Party Balloon Garland

My daughter is turning 3 this summer, which means birthday party planning is officially underway! I recently did balloons for a “Shellabration” and it was pastel, ocean-themed perfection. The whole idea came from a felt garland the mom found on Etsy—her creativity and DIY skills blew me away!

I’ve been keeping a running list in my phone of birthday themes I’ve seen that I absolutely love—so I thought I’d share some of my favorites!

First Birthday Themes

My First Rodeo - We went all in on this one for my daughter’s first birthday. Everything was pink and cow print. We even got a pony and petting zoo goats! The whole thing took place at our family farm!

One for the Books - This sweet, storybook-inspired party featured floral centerpieces and book-themed food—like If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. 10/10 for book lovers!

We Haven’t Slept ONE Bit - This theme is perfect for a cozy pancake and pajama brunch! It’s especially fun for a Christmas baby—when holiday weekends are packed and festive PJs are already in full rotation.

Second Birthday Themes

Welcome TWO the Carnival - We did this theme for my daughter’s 2nd and it was a hit! Think bounce house, carnival snacks, and animal figurines with party hats! I found a ton of inspiration on Pinterest to pull it all together.

Red, White & TWO - A perfect pick for summer birthdays! This classic all-American theme pairs perfectly with a backyard BBQ, a few flags, and maybe even a golden retriever running around.

Two Spooky / Summerween - My best friend has a Halloween birthday, and I’ll forever be jealous! “Two Spooky” and “Summerween” are both high on my dream party list. For girls, a mix of light pink, soft orange, black, and some disco skeletons!

Third Birthday Themes

Honestly, I’m still workshopping my third birthday party theme! But here are a few ideas I’ve seen and loved:

Three Under the Sea / Shellabration - This underwater theme works for any age, but “Three Under the Sea” makes it perfect for a 3rd birthday. Pastel sea creatures décor, and kids playing mermaids by the pool.

Three-Rex - I helped with a pastel dinosaur-themed party recently and it was really cute. “Three-Rex” is trending on TikTok, so you’ll find tons of inspo if you go this route.

Looking Ahead...

My oldest is deep into her Frozen phase, so I already know we’re going with “For the First Time in FOUR-ever” next year. If it involves snowflakes in the middle of summer, so be it 😊

And my youngest? She was born right around Valentine’s Day, so get ready for years of Galentine’s Day themed parties!

Whether you go all out or keep things simple, there are so many ways to make your child’s party feel special and fun. If you need balloons to bring your theme to life, you know who to call!
